Back with the same old struggle!

Again, it has been quite a while since I have posted. I am now working on my Ph.D. at University of North Texas and again struggling to figure out how I will complete everything. I am still teaching at our local high school, but I have just been assigned 2 new subjects ( Principles of A/V and Professional Communications, which I will teach twice a day this Fall. The struggle is I am also teaching Animation, Advanced Animation, Graphic Design, Advanced Design and Video Game Design and ALL of them will be new curriculum. How do I learn all that and continue taking classes at UNT this Fall? I do not know!! Maybe, when I look at this blog in another 5 years, I will laugh and think "Why did I worry?"............ Maybe!

Up in the air again!

The last time I posted, I was working at the Sheriff’s office and not teaching school.   Because I was not teaching, I made my Action Report at Brazosport College. Now, there have been some big changes in my work.   I am teaching graphic design, animation, digital interactive media, web technologies, advanced animation, and advanced graphic design at the high school. I took off working on my Lamar master program for six months so I could focus on the new job, and learn all the new Adobe software programs: Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver.   Now that I am back, I am trying to work out how to continue working on my Action Research and Internship plan. I am not sure how to continue from here. It would be so much more useful to me to complete my Internship and Action Research at my new school, but I do not know if it would be better to just continue completing my work at Brazosport. These last five weeks I have not worked on either project. I have ha...

EDLD 5363 Web Conference December 15, 2011 Reflection

Tonight’s conference was a little shorter for me than the last. It may be because I was so distracted by the web cam not working. It was on, but it would not come up in the class. I understand it may be because of I need flash, but it has always worked before. Because I kept messing with flash and the camera, I am afraid I missed some of the discussion. I was even kicked out of the conference once and had to log back on and wait to get it in. I guess all these things are kinks in a technology that will be ironed out as time goes on, and there are always growing pains as there is progress.        The conference was kind of an overview of what should already be done and what to look forward to in the future.   I did not have any real questions, but enjoyed hearing Dr. Abernathy assure us that she was there to help us if we needed her. I believe this has been my favorite class so far. It has not been high stress and it is something I w...

EDLD 5356 Reflection on week 3-5 PSA Production

I found being part of a team to produce a public service announcement to be a very interesting experience. I believe that I have been in a team that is the most productive and motivated I have ever seen. Teri was clearly on her game from the beginning and got everything organized. Angela and Courtney were perfect for production and editing because they will not quit or be satisfied until everything is perfect. They were able to select the pictures for the video and keep them to a minimum so there could be adequate time to view them. I think Liz and I were a little blown away how competent these ladies are and the speed with which they attach a project.  Liz has been a real asset with her translations and narration in Spanish. I am very pleased we added the Spanish to reach such a large percentage of the public school parents. I could not have had a better team.  My frustration was with Google Doc. My computer and my computer at work would not run docum...
